Behind the fashion week's runways

You’ve seen it, from breakfast with workers at Jacquemus through new silhouettes at Celine to dispatched colors and patterns at Kenzo; Men’s fashion week have been in the spotlights lately. But in overall fashion industry, men’s fashion week is a small portion. There’s more with women fashion week, haute couture, ready to wear, hosting cities like Paris, Milan, New York, Milan and so on … But what is it behind all this interest ? What impact has fashion week over fashion industry and economy ?



In the heart of fashion industry, fashion week is a must. Pascal Morand, The Executive Chairman of the Fédération Française de la Couture, du Prêt-à-Porter des Couturiers et des Créateurs de mode, states that “it generates 1.2 billion of euros of economic income per year and 10.3 billion of euros in commercial transactions”. Fashion Week is above all a real business.


It is notably related directly to communication and advertising expenses. But also indirectly with those concerning hotels, restaurants and transport. A dynamism present in the capital but which suffers from the decline in tourism since the end of 2015.
